More Than a Meal: Giving Back to Rescue Dogs

Sometimes, making a difference starts with something simple: showing up.

Wagging tails, playtime and fresh meals brought together Lenovo, Haven of Hope and Wunderdog for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) volunteer day, organised through our Gift a Meal initiative.

At the heart of the day was a shared commitment to giving rescue dogs the care, companionship and attention they deserve.

A Morning Dedicated to the Dogs

Haven of Hope is a Dubai rescue sanctuary caring for around 80 dogs, many rescued from difficult circumstances.

For the sanctuary's first CSR event, around 20 Lenovo volunteers joined the Haven of Hope and Wunderdog teams to spend the morning with the sanctuary's residents.

Volunteers spread across four play areas, where they had the chance to get to know the dogs, play with them, give them baths and spend one-on-one time together.

There was plenty of excitement, with dogs enjoying every bit of extra attention.

For dogs waiting for their forever homes, these moments matter. Positive human interaction and socialisation help rescue dogs build confidence, feel comfortable around people and enjoy a better quality of life.

Then came one of our favourite moments: mealtime. Lenovo volunteers helped serve fresh Wunderdog meals to the dogs, bringing the morning to a delicious close.

Making Every Meal Count with Gift a Meal

The volunteer day was part of Lenovo's contribution to our Gift a Meal programme, an initiative that brings individuals, businesses and communities together to support dogs in need across the UAE.

Through Gift a Meal, we match every kilogram of food gifted, doubling the contribution made to rescue organisations. At the time of the event, Gift a Meal had gifted approximately eight tonnes of food to rescue dogs across the UAE.

Lenovo's contribution extended beyond Haven of Hope, also supporting the dogs at Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre (RAKAWC).

This is why partnerships like these matter to us. The impact goes beyond a single event, helping rescue centres provide reliable access to fresh meals while their teams focus on the many other parts of animal care.

A Partnership Built Around Care

Our relationship with Haven of Hope extends well beyond this volunteer day. We support the sanctuary's dogs with fresh, gently cooked meals and, where appropriate, condition-specific therapeutic nutrition through Wundercare, designed to complement each dog's veterinary treatment plan, not replace medical care.

For dogs arriving from difficult circumstances, consistent access to appropriate nutrition is an important part of their ongoing care. By supporting Haven of Hope with fresh meals, we help the sanctuary focus its resources on giving every dog the attention and support they need while waiting for their forever home.

A Growing Community That Shows Up

Reflecting on the day, our founder, Abboud, said: "It was such a wholesome morning. A team-building exercise with intention, fuelled by a lot of giving."

Lenovo's team brought their time, energy and willingness to get involved. Haven of Hope opened its doors and shared the work happening behind the scenes every day. Together, we created a morning that supported the dogs and brought people closer to a cause we all share.
